Open Question: I have a dispute with my apartment complex over a matter of $300...what legal options do I have?

I am just looking for an inexpensive legal option to dispute a charge of $300 with my apartment complex. Is small claims court my only option or is there a court that specifically hears cases for renters and their landlords? I though I had heard of a specific court some time ago, but I'm not sure now.
